Hammersmith Service Control Centre Access Control and CCTV System

The new London Underground Hammersmith Service Control Centre at Hammersmith in London is part of Transport for London’s plans to transform the Circle, District, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines. When the work is completed in 2023, increased capacity and boosted reliability will make passenger journeys on London Underground faster and more comfortable.

L.B. Foster Telecoms was commissioned to design and install systems to control site access, monitor and control access to areas within buildings and provide live video surveillance at London Underground Limited’s new Hammersmith Service Control Centre. This required a full fibre network covering the multi building site accommodating various levels of access with Access Control and a fully integrated CCTV system.

The project also required the integration of the existing Galaxy Access Control System with an Axxon Soft CCTV video analytic system, plus integration with the site’s fire system, providing a flexible and secure platform for controlling the site’s access and security. The system utilised CCTV analytics to detect intruders integrated to the site’s manned security.

“Hammersmith Service Control Centre is an integral part of London Underground’s critical infrastructure. It controls four of the network’s busiest lines, so it’s essential that security is monitored and access controlled at all times. The team at L.B. Foster Telecoms delivered a smart, integrated security solution that is fit for purpose for such an important building.”
