Flange Lubrication - LCF

We offer a range of innovative, proprietary solutions to control friction between the wheel and the rail for transit and freight rail industries.

These solutions serve to reduce, increase or control friction at the wheel and rail interface in order to reduce costs and improve performance. One solution is our solid stick friction product range, which is simple to use, clean and environmentally safe.

Our Kelsan® LCF (Low Coefficient of Friction) Solid Stick wheel flange lubricant is applied directly to the wheel flange of a rail vehicle. The LCF material transfers to the wheel flange and in turn to the gauge face of the rail. A ‘thin film’ is left behind on the gauge face of the rail that provides superior lubrication to the wheel/rail interface throughout the railway system.

LCF On Board Sticks are applied via a vehicle-mounted spring-loaded applicator and bracket assembly, specifically designed and built for each customer. The bracket and applicator assembly is attached to the bogie frame of the rail vehicle.

The Kelsan® LCF On Board wheel flange lubrication system provides a 100% dry, environmental solution that avoids contamination of the TOR, track structure, ballast or vehicle equipment.
